The Renault Type N (a) was an early passenger car model from Renault . The Renault Type N (b) differed only in tiny details. Both models were also called 14/20 CV .

description

The model was presented at the Paris Motor Show in December 1902 . It was Renault's first mid-range model . On January 31, 1903 and July 21, 1903, reports appeared in La France Automobile . The national licensing authority granted its approval on February 21, 1903. The Renault Type S followed in October 1903 .

A four-cylinder engine with a 90 mm bore and 100 mm stroke produced 14 hp from a displacement of 2545 cm³ . One source indicates a bore of 90 to 100 mm, a stroke of 100 to 120 mm, a displacement of 2545 to 3770 cm³ and an output of 10 to 20 hp. The side-mounted water cooler had 18 cooling elements. The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The maximum speed was specified as 52 km / h to 85 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

With a wheelbase of 240 cm, the vehicle was 340 cm or 350 cm long and 155 cm wide. The chassis weighed 550 kg, the complete vehicle 1050 kg to 1170 kg. There was a choice of tonneau and special bodies.

The similarly designed and presented at the same time Renault Type N (c) had a two-cylinder engine with the same cylinder dimensions. Outwardly, it differed from the slightly smaller dimensions in that its cooler only had twelve cooling elements.
