The Renault Viva Grand Sport was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault . The type codes were Type ACX , Type BCX and Type BDV .

description

The first version was approved by the national licensing authority on February 18, 1935. The predecessor was the Renault Vivastella Grand Sport . In 1939 production ended without a successor.

The water-cooled six - cylinder engine with 85 mm bore and 120 mm stroke developed 95 hp from a displacement of 4086 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft .

Type ACX 1

With a wheelbase of 296 cm and a track width of 145.4 cm, the vehicle was 468.5 cm long. One source gives a wheelbase of 295 cm, a vehicle length of 440 cm and a width of 188 cm. One website mentions a vehicle height of 160 cm, but does not state which body version this information refers to. The turning circle was given as 14 meters. The chassis weighed 930 kg. There was a choice of sedans , roadsters with jump seats and convertibles . The absence of running boards resulted in a larger interior width. The headlights were largely integrated into the fenders . There were three to five horizontal vents on the sides of the hood. The oval grille was divided vertically and reached down between the two short front bumpers .

After a facelift in April 1935, the front and rear windows were made in one piece.

Type ACX 2

This version was presented at the Paris Motor Show in October 1935 . The only difference was a one-piece front bumper that was bent down in the middle. The vehicle length varies between 468.5 cm and 476 cm depending on the source. Between October and November of that year, 152 vehicles of the old version were converted. In addition to the known body variants, there was a coupé with a jump seat that was 463.5 cm long.

Type ACX 3

The next version appeared in October 1936. The models were recognizable by a vertically subdivided radiator grille that was rounded at the sides and five ventilation openings in the shape of a parallelogram on the sides of the bonnet. The previous four body versions were also available.

Type BCX 1

This version was marketed from March 1937 after it received approval on February 22nd of that year. The front bumper was straight now. The vehicles were equipped with a mechanical brake booster . The coupe was no longer listed.

Type BCX 2

This version presented in October 1937 largely corresponded to the previous model. The rear wheels were not covered. On the doors there was a wide chrome-plated strip at the level of the door handles .

Type BCX 3

Approved from April 28, 1938 and marketed from the end of April 1938, the version again had clad rear wheels.

Type BCX 4

Little is known about this design. There is evidence of a production period from April 1938 to October 1938 and 136 copies made. With regard to the headlights, the model corresponded to the previous versions, the horizontally subdivided radiator grille, however, to the successor model.

Type BDV 1

This version was approved on October 3, 1938. The grille was now divided horizontally. The headlights were positioned higher than before and only partially integrated into the fenders. In addition to the sedan, roadster and cabriolet, a coupé was again available.
