The Renault Type M was an early passenger car model from Renault . It was also called 8 CV .
description
The model received its approval from the national licensing authority on February 21, 1903. It was the successor to the Renault Type L . The successor Renault Type R followed in October of the same year .
A water-cooled single - cylinder engine from De Dion-Bouton with a 100 mm bore and 120 mm stroke produced 8 hp from a displacement of 942 cm³ . It was the last Renault model with a built- in De Dion-Bouton engine . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The top speed was specified as 36 km / h to 58 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.
With a wheelbase of 230 cm, the vehicle was 340 cm long, 150 cm wide and 220 cm high. The chassis weighed 450 kg, the complete vehicle 800 kg. The body variants Tonneau and Phaeton were available .
