The Renault Premium was a truck model from the French manufacturer Renault Trucks , which was specially designed for distribution transport.
The Renault Premium was the second heaviest model in the Renault truck range, located below the Renault Magnum long-distance truck, but above the Renault Midlum distribution and local transport truck . When it was released in 1996, it finally replaced the Renault R series , which had already received modern competition in-house from 1990 onwards with the newly released Magnum. The Premium was designed as a heavy distribution truck as well as a long-haul truck, the model version for construction site traffic was called the light version Premium Lander and the heavy version Kerax . The Renault Premium shares the cab with the Volvo FE .
In contrast to the Magnum, which conceptually separated the driver's cab and the engine compartment paneling and thus broke new ground in truck construction, the Renault Premium was a conventional construction. There was a normal cab (long cab), a long cab with a high roof, interior fittings for single drivers, all of which were marketed as a premium route , as well as variants specially equipped for distribution traffic as a premium distribution . There was also a flat cabin for use as a car transporter in the program.
The Renault Premium underwent several modifications during its production time, including new facilities for the driver's seat. The largest of these modifications, which was also accompanied by a strong external facelift , took place in 2005.
Premium was equipped with diesel engines having 6 cylinders in series form with direct injection , the motors rendered depending on the equipment 240, 280, 298, 320, 370, 410, 450 or 460 hp. For units produced by Nordex SA in Montevideo, there was a choice of engines with outputs of 320 hp, 380 hp and 440 hp.
