The Renault Monastella was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault . The type code was Type RY .

description

Renault presented the model in late 1928 as a more luxurious modification of the Renault Monasix . Its model maintenance measures in the following years were taken over. While the basic model was discontinued in 1931, the Monastella remained on offer until 1933. The Renault Celtaquatre can be seen as the successor .

The water-cooled six - cylinder engine with a 58 mm bore and 93 mm stroke produced between 26 and 33 hp from a displacement of 1474 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft .

The wheelbase measured 265 cm and the track width 130 cm.

Type RY 1

The radiator was mounted behind the engine. Distinguishing features to the Monasix were z. B. two wipers , door pockets and chrome hubcaps . The vehicle was 370 cm long and 145 cm wide. An internet source states a vehicle height of 160 cm, but does not state which body version this information refers to.

Type RY 2

This version appeared at the end of 1929. The radiator was mounted in front of the engine. The vehicle is thus available via a grille . The bonnet had no vents. Are Narrated sedan , convertible and convertible saloon .

Type RY 3

This version from 1931 can be recognized by the vertical ventilation slots in the sides of the bonnet. There was a choice of two- and four-door sedans, faux convertibles and convertibles, all priced at 35,000 francs . For comparison: the Monasix cost 24,900 francs.

Type RY 4

This variant was in the range from 1931 to 1933. The grille was a little less sloping. The offer included two- and four-door sedans and convertibles. The vehicle was 390 cm long and 155 cm wide.
