The Renault Type AZ was an early passenger car model from Renault . It was also called 12/16 CV .

description

Renault presented the model at the Paris Motor Show in November 1908. The national registration authority granted its registration on January 22, 1909. Renault did not previously have a vehicle of this size and performance in its range. The successor was the Renault Type BZ at the end of 1909 .

A water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a bore of 80 mm and a stroke of 120 mm produced 12 to 14 hp from a displacement of 2413 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The maximum speed was specified as 38 km / h to 56 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

There was a choice of three different chassis . The normal and special chassis for light bodies did not differ in terms of dimensions. With a wheelbase of 272 cm and a track width of 134 cm, the vehicle was 380 cm and 381 cm long and 160 cm and 161 cm wide. One source gives the height as 210 cm. The chassis weighed 750 kg, the complete vehicle 1300 to 1400 kg. A particularly low chassis had 294.3 cm or 298 cm wheelbase and 134 cm track width. The bodies were 405 cm long and 161 cm wide. The choice was limousine and special bodies.

The price for the chassis was between 9,600 and 10,000 francs.

The auction house Brooks offered on December 2, 1998 a vehicle from 1909 with a landaulet body by FW Lucas of London and expected a price of 24,000 to 28,000 pounds , but did not sell the vehicle.
