The Renault Vivaquatre was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault . The type codes were Type KZ , Type ADG , Type ADL and Type BDH .

description

Renault presented the first version at the Paris Motor Show in October 1931 as the successor to the Renault Type KZ , from which the type code was also adopted. In 1939 production ended without a successor.

Type KZ 7

The water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a 75 mm bore and 100 mm stroke had a displacement of 2121 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The radiator was placed in front of the engine. There were vertical vents in the sides of the hoods. The front bumper consisted of two tubes.

There was a choice of two chassis of different lengths with a 290.7 cm wheelbase or 314.7 cm wheelbase. The track width of 144 cm at the front and 145.4 cm at the rear was the same for both versions. The vehicles were 425 cm or 449 cm long and 174 cm wide. The choices were limousine , Pullman limousine , business limousine and Torpedo commercial .

From April 1932, the SA version supplemented the range with a different engine mount.

Type KZ 9

This version appeared in October 1932. It was recognizable by the one-piece straight front bumper. The wheelbase was shortened to 289.3 cm or 313.4 cm. The vehicles were 5 cm longer and 3 cm wider than before. The spare wheel was at the rear, except for the business limousine. The torpedo commercial was not used, but a taxi was available. Again an SA version was available. In the course of the series, the radiator grille was changed a little, and then the sides of the bonnet received ventilation flaps. Information on the number and size of the flaps has not been handed down.

Type KZ 13

This version appeared in October 1933. Again the grille had been changed slightly. The three ventilation flaps were the same size.

Type KZ 17

This version appeared in January 1934. The engine power was specified with 35 to 40 hp . The bodies were designed to be more aerodynamic, with the exception of the business sedan and taxi. The wheelbase was 290.7 cm and 313.4 cm, respectively. The vehicles were 440 cm or 465 cm long and 180 cm wide. On the sides of the bonnet were four ventilation flaps of different sizes. The front bumper was bent down in the middle.

Type KZ 23

This version appeared in October 1934. The engine developed 40 hp. The wheelbase was either 295.7 cm or 317 cm, or 313.4 cm for the business sedan. The five-seat sedan was 480 cm long with bumpers and the seven-seat Pullman sedan 502 cm. The uniform width and height of 169 cm were 173 cm. There were four horizontal ventilation slots in the sides of the bonnet.

Type ADG 1

This version was approved on September 18, 1935 and replaced the previous version on September 23, 1935. A larger cylinder bore of 85 mm resulted in a displacement of 2383 cm³. Visually no differences were noticeable. The turning circle was given as 11 meters. The chassis weighed either 950 kg or 1000 kg, depending on the length.

Type ADL 1

On October 5, 1935, the execution was approved. The short chassis with a 284 cm wheelbase enabled a vehicle length of 478.5 cm and the long one with a 301 cm wheelbase a length of 490.5 cm. The absence of running boards resulted in a larger interior width. Only the limousine and Pullman limousine have survived. On the sides of the bonnet were four ventilation slots, closely stacked.

Type ADL 2

This version appeared in October 1936. The engine developed 62 hp. The track width was now uniformly 145.4 cm. The grille was rounded on the sides. On the sides of the hood there were four ventilation openings in the shape of a parallelogram . The headlights were integrated into the fenders . The front bumper was bent down in the middle. In addition to the limousine and Pullman limousine, a business limousine was again available.

Type BDH 1

This version received approval on October 5, 1937. The front bumper was one piece and straight. The headlights were free-standing again. A mechanical brake booster was part of the equipment.

Type BDH 2

This version of April 26, 1938 largely corresponded to the previous one.

Type BDH 3 and Type BDH 4

These statements received their approval on September 28, 1938. They only differed in terms of the brakes. With the same wheelbase as before, the vehicles were 462 cm or 486.5 cm long and 177 cm wide. The eight-seater was 166.5 cm high. The visual distinguishing feature from the predecessor was the horizontal subdivision of the radiator grille.
