Renault Estafette

The Renault Estafette was in France very common vans from Renault . The Estafette was widely used as a personnel carrier by the French police. It was built from spring 1959 to the end of 1980 in three generations with a total of 530,000 copies.

In Canada as well as in the United States, the model was marketed as a passenger van under the name Renault Hi-Boy and as a panel van under the name Renault Petit-Panel . The units for the Mexican market were manufactured by the Mexican company Diesel Nacional SA . The units for the African markets were finally assembled by the Algerian company CARAL from 1965 to 1969 .

Both Renault Trafic and Renault Master took over from the summer of 1980 .

Models

R 2130/31

The first generation of the Renault Estafette was built from May 1959 to May 1962 and had the factory designation R 2130/31. The van had an engine with a displacement of 845 cm³, which made 32 hp and came from the Renault Dauphine passenger car . The vehicle could carry a payload of 600 kg and was manufactured in a number of 58,201 copies during its production period.

R 2132/33/34/35

Renault Estafette (1966)

The second generation of the Renault Estafette appeared in January 1962. The vehicles had new engines with a displacement of 1108 cm³ and 45 hp, which were taken over from the Renault 8 . This allowed the maximum payload to be increased by 200 kg to 800 kg. The second generation Estafette, available in various versions, was produced until November 1968. A total of 121,981 copies of the model with factory number R 2132 were produced, and 19587 units of the R 2134 rolled off the production line.

R 2136/37

In the third generation, the Renault Estafette has been further improved. The engines experienced a further increase in performance and now came from the Renault 12 . Renault expanded the engine capacity to 1289 cm³. The third generation Estafette was available in two different versions: as the R 2136 with a payload of 800 kg and as the R 2137 with a further increased payload of 1000 kg. In the production period from April 1968 to June 1980, 193,237 units of the R 2136 were manufactured. 140,202 copies of the more powerful R 2137 model left the production line.

Dacia D6

Dacia D6 (1975-1978)

Dacia built the Estafette R 2136/37 under license from 1975 at the Dacia plant in Mioveni under the name Dacia D6. This was the first commercial vehicle that Dacia produced up to that point. At the end of production in 1978, 842 copies had been produced.

Prototype R 4134

In November 1968, Renault produced a prototype that was tested with various diesel engines. The project was eventually canceled and the prototype scrapped.
