Renault City K-ZE (pronounced "Kay-Zee") is an electric car (class: SUV ) from the French vehicle manufacturer Renault . It is Renault's fifth electric car - Renault plans to expand its range of electric vehicles to eight models.

At the beginning of March 2020, Dacia presented a concept vehicle of the brand's first electric vehicle based on the City K-ZE. The production version of the Dacia Spring Electric is scheduled to go on sale in 2021.

presentation

The Renault City K-ZE concept vehicle was presented at the 2018 Paris Motor Show , at that time under Carlos Ghosn , as a cooperation with Dongfeng Motor Corporation .

The production vehicle was finally presented in April 2019 at the Auto Shanghai ( Shanghai Motor Show ) on the exhibition grounds of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC) in Shanghai . Within six months, Renault's collaboration with eGT New Energy Automotive Co. , a Chinese company, turned the concept vehicle into a production vehicle .

The vehicle

Renault City K-ZE is a mini SUV that is powered by an electric motor. The ground clearance of 15 centimeters ensures comfortable entry and a good overview. Large windows and thin vehicle pillars should also contribute to a good overview .

The wheelbase is 2.43 meters and the external length 3.73 to 3.74 meters; the vehicle should still offer plenty of space. The trunk has a volume of almost 300 liters. Externally, elements from Renault Captur and Renault Twingo are combined.

The vehicle has an integrated multimedia system with an eight-inch (20.3 centimeters) wide touchscreen , 4G - Internet , voice recognition , navigation system , rear camera and real-time control of the electric vehicle functions. The info terminal can be accessed from the outside via an app . Fine dust sensors and a system for controlling the air quality should ensure a good indoor climate, which can be an advantage in areas with high levels of smog .

Interior door panels are made of plastic and car seats are covered with fabric .

It is not known whether the vehicle will be available in Europe in the future; however, according to the managing director Thierry Bolloré, Renault describes Renault City K-ZE “as a global project” and will “also sell the K-ZE in other regions”.
