The Renault Type JP , also 40 CV called, was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault .

description

The national licensing authority granted its approval on August 4, 1921. As a variant of the Renault Type IR , the model had neither a predecessor nor a successor.

The water-cooled six - cylinder engine with 110 mm bore and 160 mm stroke had a displacement of 9123 cm³ . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The maximum speed was specified as 70 km / h to 92 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.

A short sports version and a long version were on offer. With a wheelbase of 380.2 cm in the sports version and a track width of 150 cm, the vehicle was 488.3 cm long and 179.5 cm wide. The long version with a 399.4 cm wheelbase with unchanged track width enabled a vehicle length of 507.5 cm. The turning circle was given as 15 to 16 meters. The chassis weighed 1680 kg. Touring cars and limousines have survived.

On July 16, 2004 Bonhams auctioned an Open Drive sedan from 1921 for 52,256 euros . On September 4, 2010, the same vehicle was at an estimated price from 375,000 to 475,000 US dollars not auctioned and a hammer price of 240,000 dollars. RM Auctions auctioned the same vehicle on August 21, 2011 for $ 220,000.
