description
The national licensing authority granted its approval on December 26, 1910. The previous Renault Type BY was shorter. Production ran until 1912. The successor was the Renault Type DP .
A water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a 100 mm bore and 160 mm stroke produced 23 hp from a displacement of 5026 cm³ . As with so many models from the 1911 model year, Renault had increased the stroke by 20 mm compared to the previous year's model. The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The maximum speed was specified as 55 km / h to 82 km / h, depending on the gear ratio.
Two chassis of different lengths were in the range. The shorter one had a wheelbase of 347.7 cm and a track width of 145 cm. This made the vehicle 475 cm long and 176 cm wide. The longer, with a 362.7 cm wheelbase, enabled bodies 490 cm in length. The turning circle was specified as 13 to 14 meters. The chassis weighed 1150 kg, the complete vehicle 1900 kg. There was a choice of double phaeton , touring cars and limousines . The chassis cost 15,500 francs .
On September 9, 1995, Christie's auction house auctioned a 1912 touring car with the British registration number PA 8667 for £ 36,700 . This vehicle was used several times on classic car trips in Germany. The American classic car dealer Hyman Ltd. offered this vehicle for sale in 2013 at the Techno-Classica .
On September 3, 2004, Bonhams auctioned a sedan from 1912 for 71,230 euros . H&H Auctions auctioned the same vehicle on September 21, 2011 for £ 82,500.
