The Renault Celtaquatre was a passenger car model of the interwar period of Renault . The type codes were Type ZR , Type ADC , Type AEC and Type BCR . Unofficially, the vehicle was also called Celtaboule .

description

The model appeared in 1934 and replaced the Renault Monastella . The Renault Celtastandard was a cheaper variant . Production ended on April 11, 1938. There was no successor of comparable size.

All versions had a water-cooled four - cylinder engine with a 70 mm bore , 95 mm stroke and 1462 cm³ displacement . The engine power was sent to the rear axle via a cardan shaft .

Type ZR 1

The national approval authority approved the first version on April 19, 1934. The engine developed 34 hp . With a wheelbase of 245 cm and a track width of 125 cm, the vehicle was 386 cm long, 151 cm wide and 159 cm high. Another source states that it is 380 cm long and 155 cm wide. The vehicle weighed between 880 kg and 900 kg. The doors of the four-seater sedan were hung on the B-pillar . The spare wheel was mounted on the rear. The trunk was accessed through the interior. The front bumper was bent down in the middle. There were three ventilation flaps in the sides of the hood. In addition to the sedan, a coupé with a jump seat was on offer a little later .

Type ZR 2

The model upgrade in March 1935 brought four horizontally arranged ventilation slots in the sides of the bonnet.

Type ADC 1

This model was approved on September 4, 1935 and was marketed from September 20, 1935. The engine output was now given as 32 hp. A wheelbase of 271 cm and a track width of 130 cm made for a vehicle length of 419.5 cm and a vehicle width of 157.2 cm. Another source mentions 420 cm length and 160 cm width. The running boards were omitted. On offer were a four-door sedan with five seats in the versions Luxe and Grand Luxe , a coupé with a jump seat, a roadster with a jump seat and a five-seat convertible . The design was recognizable by five ventilation slots arranged closely one above the other.

Type AEC 1

This model was registered on October 10, 1935 and was produced until 1936. It corresponded in size to the Type ZR 2 and was very similar to the Renault Monaquatre Type YN 4 . Of this model, only a business sedan with a payload of 500 kg for 18,300 francs has survived.

Type ADC 2

In October 1936, this model appeared with a radiator grille that was rounded on the sides. A suitcase at the rear cost 700 francs extra.

Type ADC 3

The facelift of October 1937 brought a straight front bumper. The door handles were no longer chrome-plated . The only version was a four-door sedan as a Grand Luxe .

Type BCR 1 and Type BCR 2

These models for business customers were in the range in 1937 and 1938. Approval was granted on January 6, 1937. The basis was the chassis of the Renault Primaquatre . The wheelbase was 286 cm. The payload was specified as 500 kg. The price rose from 23,000 francs on October 1, 1937 to 25,100 francs on February 25, 1938.
