The market launch in Southeast Asia took place in autumn 2007, but in Europe only in late summer 2008. The concept vehicle Koleos Concept was first presented in 2006 at the Paris Motor Show. It was developed by Renault's design department in collaboration with Renault Samsung Motors' design center in Korea. In East Asia, the vehicle is sold as the Samsung QM5 . It shares the platform with the Nissan X-Trail .
The Koleos is built in Samsung's main plant ( Busan , South Korea ).
For the Koleos there are two 2-liter turbodiesel engines with common rail injection and 110 or 127 kW (150 or 173 hp) and a 2.5-liter petrol engine with 126 kW (171 hp). All diesel vehicles are equipped with soot particle filters. There is also a six-speed gearbox, a hill descent aid (HDC) and a traction aid (HSA), which also enables driving outside of paved roads. To be able to do better in the field, it has a four-wheel drive and 20 centimeters ground clearance (petrol) and 18 centimeters (Diesel) at 17 "wheels. Model maintenance
2011
At the IAA 2011 a revised version of the Koleos was shown, which was introduced on the German market in mid-October 2011. In particular, the front has been redesigned. The revised model has new headlights and a chrome grille. Other small changes were also made to the interior.
2013
In the summer of 2013 the Koleos was slightly revised again. A special feature of this facelift is the modified radiator grille.
Production ended in mid-2015. His place was taken by the only a few centimeters shorter Kadjar without being his successor.

Renault presented the second generation of the Koleos at the Beijing Motor Show 2016. The five-seater is again based on the Nissan X-Trail and is again being built in Busan. The new Koleos first hit the market in autumn 2016 in Australia , China , Turkey , the Gulf States and Latin America. In Germany, the vehicle has been available from dealers since June 24, 2017 at prices starting at EUR 30,900. A revised version of the SUV has been available since September 2019.
In East Asia, the vehicle is also sold as the Samsung QM6 .

Registration numbers
In the first sales year 2017, 1,933 second generation Koleos - 1,874 of them with all-wheel drive - were newly registered in Germany. In 2018, 2,577 of the total of 2,799 vehicles were all-wheel drive, in 2019 there were 1,821 of 2,305.
