foreign countries

In Angola and South America , the first generation has continued to be built since mid-2007, but is now called the Nissan X-Trail Classic . The CKD kits used for the construction come from the Angolan Zhongji Company , which assembles the model for the African market.

The X-Trail has been manufactured in Taiwan by the Chinese Yulon Motor Company since December 2002 . With the worldwide model change in summer 2007, Yulon kept the first generation.

In contrast to other manufacturers who have been marketing the model as the X-Trail Classic since then, the company gave the SUV a unique facelift. Special features of the model are the front with the chrome-decorated radiator grille and the triangular headlights, which are very reminiscent of the Honda CR-V second and third generation. However, this form of the Nissan X-Trail is produced exclusively for the Taiwanese market.

The new X-Trail was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007, and its changed appearance was only noticed at second glance. The model came on the market in June 2007.

However, it is a completely redesigned vehicle that shares the base with the Nissan Qashqai . The front and rear, typical of the brand, have been modernized a little, so that the overall appearance looks a bit more robust and brawny. The dimensions of the new X-Trail have increased slightly: the overall length has increased by 17.5 centimeters to 4.63 meters, and the wheelbase has remained almost the same at 2.63 meters. The trunk volume grew considerably from 410 to 603 liters.

The chassis and body have been optimized in key points and the interior noticeably upgraded. In the interior, the instrument panel, which had previously been arranged in the middle and was often criticized, moved to the left and is now fully in the driver's field of vision. In addition, the all-terrain Nissan is getting two new turbo diesels, so that a total of four engines are now available. The petrol engines have also been modified; the 104 kW (141 hp) engine is a new development. A continuously variable CVT transmission is available as an option especially for the petrol variant . Hill climbing and descending assistance are also included. The diesel models have particle filters and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Facelift

In September 2010 the X-Trail underwent a facelift . Since then, the vehicle has only been available in Austria and Germany with two revised diesel engines that meet the Euro 5 emissions standard. The exterior of the front and rear have been slightly modernized. The taillights were partially converted to LED technology. In the interior, the facelift is easy to recognize by the changed instruments with a rectangular on-board computer display (black / white) between the rev counter and the speedometer. This info display was previously illuminated in a round orange color.

In China, the identical Dongfeng Fengdu MX6 was offered by the Dongfeng Motor Company between 2015 and 2019 .

At the IAA 2013 in Frankfurt am Main , Nissan presented the third generation of its world's best-selling model, the X-Trail. This version, which has been sold since July 2014, is no longer characterized by the angular ladder - frame off-road vehicle design, but is based on the contemporary, sporty SUV look. The front section picks up on stylistic elements from current Nissan models such as the Murano and Qashqai . In Europe, the new X-Trail also replaced the Nissan Pathfinder ; in North America, the Nissan Rogue is almost identical to the X-Trail for the first time.

technology

LED headlights with daytime running lights are used, as well as the ALL-MODE 4x4i electronic all-wheel drive system known from previous models , with which you can choose between front-wheel drive and automatically calculated power distribution between the front and rear axles. In addition, the system can also be locked so that the driving force is evenly distributed over the axles.

The so-called Active Ride Control and the Active Engine Brake are newly introduced . Active Ride Control monitors the road surface and automatically adjusts the vehicle damping. With the Active Engine Brake, the power and controllability of the continuously variable CVT transmission are used, thereby increasing the braking effect of the engine.

Another innovation that comes Active Trace Control of the Infiniti M Y51 used. Controlled by sensors, this can prevent possible understeer on wet and slippery roads through targeted braking of individual wheels. For the engines, the 1.6 liter turbodiesel with 96 kW (130 PS) known from the Qashqai was used. The gasoline engines friction-optimized find downsizing engines use. In addition, the weight has been reduced with measures such as a tailgate made mostly of plastic for lower fuel consumption.

Comfort equipment

In addition to the new safety equipment listed, the X-Trail will in future have the navigation system and the Connect infotainment system . This can be connected to a smartphone and enables internet access in the car . Apps from social networks, music and other entertainment platforms can be called up via a seven-inch color touchscreen . A so-called send-to-car function enables travel planning at home, which is then sent to the car. The system also has a Bluetooth hands- free system, AUX and USB connections.

Chrome, metal and piano lacquer surfaces should upgrade the interior. The longer wheelbase and newly shaped front seat backrests provide better knee room in the second row of seats. A third fold-away row of seats with two seats is available for a surcharge, as is full leather trim. The rows of seats rise as if to the rear, so that rear passengers have a better view of the front.

To increase the load volume, the second row of seats can be moved, as well as fold-away seats in the optional third row. In addition, there is a double loading floor in the trunk, which can be converted into two luggage compartments. The third generation of the X-Trail is also optionally available with a central panoramic roof and an electrically operated tailgate.

Facelift

In September 2017, the X-Trail underwent a facelift . The front section has a larger grill. In addition, the chrome clasp is now wider and more distinctive. The fog lights are now square. In the rear there is a modified bumper and taillights in LED technology. Inside there are improved materials and a different steering wheel. A sensor-controlled tailgate is now also available. The trunk now has a volume of 565 liters (+15 liters).
