The Nissan Interstar was a pickup truck based on the Renault Master II due to the Renault-Nissan corporate relationship. Nissan needed a successor to the now outdated Nissan Trade and Nissan Urvan . It was therefore decided, instead of a new development, to market the Renault Master, which had been built since 1998 and is also offered as the Opel Movano , as a Nissan. Technically, the Interstar only differed from its sister models in that no versions over 3.5 tons total weight were available.
Interstar (T35, 2002-2003)
From February 2002, the Interstar was built in Luton by GM Manufacturing Luton as a right-hand drive, and in Batilly by the Société des Véhicules Automobiles de Batilly and Nissan Motor Ibérica SA in Barcelona as a left-hand drive version of the bus / station wagon models.
Interstar (X70, 2003-2010)
Similar to the revision of the Renault Master II / Opel Movano I, the Interstar 2003 also received a revision of the body, engines and the interior. Since then, an automated manual transmission has also been available for the revised model (Interstar X70), and ESP ( vehicle dynamics control ) is available as an option. From now on, a brake assistant was also part of the series standard in addition to the anti-lock braking system that was already installed . Since then, the Interstar has also been delivered as a minibus with up to 16 seats.
There were two different wheelbases, 3078 mm and 4078 mm. The length of the vehicles was 5388 mm, their width 1990 mm and their height 2249–2489 mm. The curb weight ranged between 1450 kg and 2100 kg.
In 2010 the Interstar was replaced by the Nissan NV400 .
