In contrast to the first Pintara, the Pintara of the U12 series was based on the contemporary Nissan Bluebird U12. In addition to the notchback sedan and station wagon, there was a five-door hatchback that was also exported to Japan. The two-liter engine developed 83 kW / 113 hp, alongside an injected 2.4-liter four-cylinder (type GA24E) with 96 kW / 130 hp.

The Pintara U12 was sold under the name " Ford Corsair " via the local Ford dealers as part of the then politically wanted cooperation between the car companies in Australia .
