The Nissan C80 was a truck that Nissan produced as an addition above the Nissan Caball and below the Nissan 680 from 1966 to 1976. It was replaced by the new Nissan Caball # Nissan Caball C340 1976-1982 .
Model history
With the C80 with 2.5–4.5 tons of payload , Nissan filled the gap between the Caball (up to 2 tons) and the 680 (from 5 tons of payload). The C80 was a front control arm with an underfloor motor mounted under the seats . The design corresponded to the Caball C240, but in contrast to the Caball, the C80 was only available as a chassis with a cab for superstructures and flatbed trucks . In export, the C80 was partly marketed as a Caball.
The drive was the Nissan H30 petrol engine, which was also installed in the Nissan President , and the Nissan SD33 diesel engine . Power was transmitted to the rear axle by means of a cardan shaft via a synchronized 4-speed manual transmission , optionally also with 5 forward gears. The C80, like the Caball, was a huge commercial success for Nissan. The successor model Caball C340 was developed right from the start for a payload of up to 4 tons and was also offered in Europe as Datsun Cabstar .
