Nissan Stanza

The Datsun Stanza (from 1985: Nissan Stanza ) is a model manufactured by the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan from 1977 to 1992 .

The Stanza was manufactured in four generations and temporarily also offered in Europe. The first and second generation were identical to the Datsun Violet , which was also sold in Europe, with the exception of minor details , while the third and fourth generation was largely identical to the Datsun Bluebird at the same time .

The first Stanza was a rear-wheel drive mid-range model that was available as a four-door sedan and five-door station wagon, powered by a two-liter four-cylinder. In Europe, it was not the Stanza that was offered, but the almost identical Violet. In Japan, the model was also offered as the Nissan Auster.

The second-generation Stanza, which celebrated its world premiere at the 49th IAA in September 1981, was an independent model and the first mid-range Datsun with front-wheel drive.

The model series was offered under this name in Germany and Europe from November 1981. The program included a four-door notchback and a three- or five-door hatchback, powered by a four-cylinder 1.6 or 1.8 liter displacement.

The four-door was discontinued from September 1984, the three-door before. In March 1985, a Kat version for the 1.8 liter four-cylinder was added to the range - with the front section of the US variant.

In autumn 1985 the export of the Stanza ended. Another name on the Japanese home market with partly different equipment was Nissan Auster.

The third Stanza was largely identical to the Nissan Bluebird U12 and was sold in Europe as the Bluebird. The Stanza was still available as a four-door notchback and five-door hatchback, powered by a two-liter four-cylinder and with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.

The fourth Stanza was only offered in North America, a variant of the Nissan Bluebird U12, which was no longer sold in Europe and North America. This last Stanza was powered by a 2.4 liter in-line four-cylinder and replaced at the end of 1992 by the Nissan Altima , which was initially marketed under the name Nissan Stanza Altima.
