The Datsun Go was presented to the world for the first time on July 15, 2013 in New Delhi . The small car is Datsun's first model since the 1980s, since all models were marketed worldwide under the name of the parent company Nissan . Unlike before, Datsun will now, like Dacia, build low-priced models at Renault , which will initially only be offered in so-called emerging countries such as India and other Asian countries, South America and Eastern Europe. The Go presented by Renault-Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn has been sold in India and Indonesia since 2014 .

Model history, technology and future

The Go is visually and technically related to the Nissan Micra K13 , but not identical in construction. The wheelbase and length are similar, but the Go is 3 cm lower and narrower. The body shape was designed in the Nissan design center in Japan , the construction of the car was carried out by Indian engineers at Renault Nissan Automotive India . Production started in autumn 2013 at the Renault-Nissan-Automotive-India plant in Oragadam near Chennai as a right-hand drive . From 2014 left-hand drive versions for export to Russia will also be produced . The Go will also be built in 2014 at the Nissan Purwakarta plant in Indonesia together with the MPV Datsun GO + .

The five-door hatchback model with front-wheel drive has the 1.2-liter petrol engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox , which is already familiar from the Nissan Micra . In India, the Go with five seats is said to cost less than 400,000 Indian rupees (around 5100 euros ). A docking station to a smartphone can be connected, otherwise the Go has only the most necessary equipment.
