The Yue Loong Motor Company from Taiwan built the Homer T641 under license as the YLN-251.

The original Prince Homer T64 / V64 launched on the home market in September 1961. T64 was the code for the flatbed truck, called Truck in Japan, and V64 for the panel vans and small vans called Van models in Japan. An overhead control in-line four-cylinder engine, type G1, with 1484 cm 3 displacement, which was also installed in the Prince Skyline 1500 , in conjunction with a 4-speed manual transmission was used as drive . The T64 had a grille that consisted of eight oval slots. There was a round badge with a P in the middle in front of the grille and a Prince Homer badge on the doors. After Nissan acquired a stake in Prince, the model became the Nissan Prince Homer T640 / V640 in 1966. Only the lettering on the doors of the Nissan Homer changed, the radiator grille and the P badge remained the same. The Prince engine was also installed during the construction period from 1966 to August 1968.

From September 1968 to August 1972 the models were now produced as the Datsun Homer T641 / V641. On the domestic market, the truck is also known as the Nissan Homer. The grille now had a "cat whisker grid", consisting of three horizontal slots on both sides. The model's emblem was a broad wing with an N in the middle. Depending on the variant, it bore the lettering Nissan or Datsun Homer on the side doors. With the Datsun Homer, a large Datsun symbol was also riveted to the body above the N emblem. The engine was now a 4-cylinder Nissan R-series gasoline engine with overhead valves , from the Datsun Fairlady 1600 with a 4-speed manual transmission. A double-cab version of the Datsun Homer truck was new, but it was not often sold.

Production of this version started in September 1972. The truck model was now also offered as the Nissan Cabstar in some export markets, while it was still called the Nissan Homer in the home market. The difference to the predecessor was in the engine. The Nissan J16, 1567 cm³ OHV 4-cylinder engine with 59kw / 81PS was installed. The version was built until January 1976 without any major technical changes.

The Homer F20 started in January 1976. There were no longer box van and minibus versions, so only the truck was available. In addition to a single cabin, a double cabin was also available and the payload was 1 or 1.5 tons. The technical basis was provided by the Nissan Caball C340 while the driver's cab was a further development of its predecessor. The F20 was again offered as Nissan and Datsun Homer, but in export it was now called Datsun Cabstar for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Germany, to which the model was now gradually exported as Nissan believed the name Homer for a truck is not appropriate. In the Nordic countries and some other small European countries, however, the model continued to be exported as the Datsun Homer and was also available with the first-ever SD22 diesel engine with 48 kW (65 hp).

While the Cabstar was only equipped with the Nissan H20-1982 cm³ petrol engine with 74 kW (99 PS) in addition to the diesel engine, the Homer was also available with the J15 petrol engine with 57 kW (77 PS).

In 1977 the series received minor improvements and a variant with a longer platform and higher body was specially created for export.

In 1979 the front was modernized and the engines had been improved due to the changed emissions regulations. This revision resulted in type code F21. Production of the model series ended between December 1981 and February 1982.
