history
The first mention of an organized fire fighting team from the paint factory Meister Lucius & Brüning, later Hoechst AG , which was founded in 1863 , dates back to 1875. This fire fighting team developed into a voluntary factory fire brigade by 1880, which existed in this form until 1912. Due to the strong growth in operations, it was decided to set up a full-time fire brigade, which one year after its establishment consisted of 38 people who could be supported by 90 volunteer firefighters. At the beginning of the Second World War, the professional fire brigade had already increased to 43 men, while the volunteer fire brigade for air protection measures was reinforced and thus counted a total of 120 emergency services. In 1943 the factory fire brigade was officially recognized as a plant fire brigade, which placed it under official supervision and was now allowed to perform sovereign tasks.
In 1960 the plant fire brigade was transformed into a department of the plant and incorporated into the engineering department. The plant fire brigade reached its current size in 1990 with 139 full-time and 80 volunteer workers. With the establishment of the Höchst industrial park in 1998, the operating company Infraserv Höchst took over the plant fire brigade.
Alarm department
An alarm shift (24-hour shift) consists of at least 20 full-time emergency personnel who manned a total of two fire stations. These are located in the north and south of the industrial park, so that in the event of an alarm they can reach any point on the factory premises within five minutes. A total of 115 people are employed full-time in the plant fire department.
Fire station 1 (north) is also the location of the emergency response center and the emergency management, which is staffed around the clock. In the event of major damage incidents, the task force meets in the situation center of the fire station , in which all organizational units involved in fighting the damage as well as the police and the Frankfurt am Main fire brigade are represented.
Furnishing
The plant fire brigade has six fire engines, seven equipment vehicles, two aerial rescue vehicles and a fire boat.
