TUIS

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Companies in the chemical industry from Germany and Austria jointly maintain the transport accident information and assistance system ( acronym : TUIS ). Experts can be reached here by phone around the clock to provide information on how to handle chemicals in the event of a transport accident.

The help from TUIS is divided into three levels:

  • Level 1: Technical advice over the phone
  • Level 2: Advice from a specialist on-site
  • Level 3: Technical assistance at the scene of the accident with special equipment and operating know-how from chemical fire brigades

Help can only be requested from authorized bodies such as fire brigades , police , water rights authorities or railway operators . Access to the TUIS database can be found on the website www.tuis.org. After entering the postcode of the accident location or the UN number of the hazardous substance , a list of specialists or works fire brigades in the area appears who can help. The list of substances in the database is based on the ADR list.

The TUIS system currently includes 130 companies in Germany and 48 companies in Austria. There are currently 13 emergency centers in Germany that can be reached around the clock.

TUIS is integrated into an important European system of assistance, the so-called ICE system of the umbrella organization of the European chemical industry ( CEFIC ).
