The Nissan pick-up is a pick-up from the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan and has been manufactured in Iran since 1988 and in Europe since 1992 as a sister model to the Datsun pick-up, which has now been discontinued . Official offshoots of the pick-up are the large-capacity SUV Armada and the pick-up Titan , which so far have mainly been sold in North America .

The Nissan pick-up was launched in 1992 by Nissan in Turkey and Spain in the then current D / W21 generation and is technically almost identical to its sister models. The model itself was introduced in 1988 by Pars Khodro as a sister model of the American Nissan Frontier , the Spanish Nissan Navara and the Japanese Nissan Terrano . The equipment variants and the available model range were the same: diesel and gasoline engines with outputs from 54 to 137 hp. The TD21 generation of the pick-up has been manufactured in South America since 1995, but is only successful in a few of these markets.

Nissan Terrano Pick-up Facelift 2006 to 2007

After sluggish sales, Nissan renewed the Nissan Terrano in 1996 and introduced the D22 generation in the Turkish production plant, which in 1999 finally replaced the D / W21 generation still being produced in Spain. Unlike its predecessor, the D22 was offered in three body styles. The model was available as a two-seater with a single cabin, as a 2 + 2-seater with two seats in the rear arranged lengthways to the direction of travel, under the name King Cab , and as a five-seater with a double cabin. The engine selection for the D22 generation was reduced by Nissan to two types due to the failure of the previous generation.

Engines

The standard engines were now petrol engines with a displacement of 2389 cm³ and an output of 83 hp. Alternatively, there were also more powerful diesel variants with a displacement of 2494 cm³ and outputs of 104 and 120 hp. With the end of production of the Chile Terrano pick-up in 1998, Nissan also launched the D22 pick-up in Great Britain. This was mainly intended for export to Asia, the Middle East and, in the partial construction process, also to España. In Europe, however, the model was used to fill the gap on the German, Austrian and Hungarian markets, where the pick-up had not yet been included in the product range. A special feature of the English version is the selector lever with which front-wheel drive and off-road assistance can be switched on. The gross vehicle weight of the 2.5 TDI KingCab 4 × 4 was 2570 to 2740 kg. The Spanish version, however, was largely relocated to the North and West African markets. As a CKD kit, the pick-up of the Spanish version was also assembled in Russia from 1999 to 2003 under the new name Alexander Upper by the former car manufacturers' association United Study Firms . However, the USF made the interior fittings for it itself. The engines of the Upper came from Mitsubishi Motors and offered outputs of 64, 139 and 177 hp. At the same time, the pick-up was technically revised. A diesel engine with a displacement of 2389 cm³ and outputs of 104 and 245 hp was also included in the program. The Spanish version received a face-lifted model with the generation change, which was also exported to Germany in small numbers. The facelift was then also taken over in Turkey the following July and now prescribed the model more as a leisure model. In the UK, however, the pick-up was canceled from production. For this, the British factory took over the engine production of the new 133 hp diesel engine with a displacement of 2488 cm³, which was now used as standard in the pick-up. Since then, Nissan has also imported the American Navara and Pathfinder models to offset the sales figures with justification on the discontinued UK model .

The third generation was launched in Turkey in spring 2007 under the full name Nissan NP 300 Pick-up and is just a technically advanced version of the face-lifted D22 predecessor. The 98 kW (133 hp) engine also comes from the predecessor. Initially, the NP 300 was only available in the Turkish and British markets. After the production of the new generation was launched in the summer of 2008 in Spain and for the first time also in South Africa (as Nissan NP300 Hardbody / Nissan Pick-up Hardbody ), the pick-up has been widely used to date. The rear-axle limited-slip differential is new to the NP-300 generation. The permissible total weight has been increased to 2860 kg in the current generation of models. In the summer of 2009, the pick-up without a successor was deleted from the British model range. In some countries in the Middle East, the current version of the pick-up is offered, but technically it is still based on the D22 predecessor and is therefore also sold as the D22 pick-up.

There is a choice of three engines for these model versions. The entry-level version is a diesel engine with a displacement of 2664 cm³ and an output of 85 hp. Another diesel variant is offered with a displacement of 3153 cm³ and has an output of 103 hp. The top version here, however, is a gasoline engine with an output of 150 hp and a displacement of 2389 cm³. In some countries this also offers an increased output of 160 hp. In Kenya, the NP 300 has also been assembled as a CKD since September 2009 and is known there as the Nissan One Ton Pick-up and the Nissan Atoti . Both are only produced with a 148 hp diesel engine. In the People's Republic of China, the D22 is also produced in the special version ZN6493 and has a removable loading area structure. To make the pick-up popular in America, the current NP 300 is now also being produced in Mexico, where it is offered in different body versions.
