Walter Libuda (born June 24, 1950 in Zechau -Leesen) is a German painter , draftsman , sculptor and object artist .

Life

Walter Libuda was a theater painter at the Landestheater Altenburg from 1968–71 . 1973–78 he studied at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig . From 1978 to 1979 he was a master student with Bernhard Heisig . From 1979 to 1985 he worked as an assistant at the University of Graphic and Book Art in Leipzig. From 1985 Libuda lived in Berlin .

Walter Libuda has been a member of the artists' association Neue Gruppe München since 1991 . He has been a member of the German Association of Artists since 1992 and has been a member of the Saxon Academy of the Arts since 1998 . In 1999 Walter Libuda received the Fred Thieler Prize for Painting from the Berlinische Galerie and in 2000 he was awarded the Gerhard Altenbourg Prize from the Lindenau Museum Altenburg . Since 2004 Libuda has lived in Schildow near Berlin.

Walter Libuda is a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts and since 2014 deputy secretary of the Class of Visual Arts Saxon Academy of Arts .
