New group

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Neue Gruppe is an amalgamation of various visual artists from all disciplines in Munich . It was founded in 1946 and is now registered as a non-profit association .

history

The Neue Gruppe was founded in 1946 and organized its first exhibition in the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in 1947 . In the catalog for this exhibition the concern of the group was formulated as follows: "The association pursues the concern of representing those artists who are particularly concerned with modern visual problems without being doctrinally committed to an art direction." The members were recruited to a large extent from the artists of the Munich New Secession who were ostracized or emigrated in the Third Reich . In 1949 there was a merger with the Munich Secession and the Neue Münchner Künstlergenossenschaft to form the "Exhibition Management House of Art". Since then, it has organized the “Great Munich Art Exhibition” every year in the Haus der Kunst .
