Andreas Bindl (born August 20, 1928 in Grünthal near Rosenheim / Upper Bavaria; † January 7, 2010 in Faistenhaar ) was a German sculptor .

After an apprenticeship as a carpenter, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich from 1948 to 1954 and was a master student of Josef Henselmann . After completing his studies, he worked as a freelance sculptor in Munich . Since 1961 he took part in the great art exhibition in the Haus der Kunst in Munich. Since 1970 his main activity has been the creation of picture objects. He had been a member of the German Association of Artists since 1971 , having participated in its 18th large group exhibition in the Rheinisches Landesmuseum Bonn a year earlier . From 1972 Bindl was a member of the New Group . In 1978 he was awarded the Fine Art Prize of the City of Munich and in 1980 the Water Lily Prize. He had been teaching at the Munich Academy since 1980. In 1986 he was awarded the Villa Romana Prize . Since 1987 he has been a full member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts , from 1990 to 1996 he was President of the Neue Gruppe , since then its Honorary President. In 2002 he was awarded the Egmont Schaefer Prize .
