Andrea Firmenich

Andrea Firmenich (* 1959 ) is a German art historian and general secretary of the Kunststiftung NRW in Düsseldorf.

Life

Firmenich studied art history, history, philosophy and education at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn. After her doctorate and her traineeship at the Brücke-Museum Berlin in 1989, she took over the scientific management of the Kunsthalle Emden / Foundation Henri and Eske Nannen in 1990 and in 1996 that of exhibition management at the Art and Exhibition Hall of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bonn. In 1999 she became director of the Sinclair House Museum in Bad Homburg, where she a. a. built up a corporate collection for ALTANA AG on the subject of "Nature in Contemporary Art". On behalf of Susanne Klatten , Andrea Firmenich designed and founded the ALTANA Cultural Foundation in Bad Homburg in 2007 and the Nantesbuch Foundation in 2012, which she developed as managing director.

In 2019 Firmenich took over the office of General Secretary of the Kunststiftung NRW in Düsseldorf.

Firmenich is active on several committees and scientific advisory boards (among others on the advisory board of the Henri and Eske Nannen Foundation and the Otto van de Loo donation and on the board of trustees of the catalog raisonné of Gabriele Münter's paintings of the Gabriele Münter and Johannes Eichner Foundation). She has written and edited numerous publications on the art of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Andrea Firmenich is married and has one son. She lives in Cologne.
