Latium (Lazio)
In the south of Lazio (region Lazio ), historically the border between the Papal States and the Kingdom of Sicily , there is a group ogival brick buildings that build a bridge between the Arab-Norman architecture and the beginning of the 12th century Gothic . The oldest of these structures is not yet Gothic, the rest of them, at least in their younger parts, can be assigned to Gothic. There are also natural stone buildings in this area on the threshold of the Gothic, today's Fossanova abbey church was built in 1163–1204, during the French early Gothic, but after the second construction phase of the Minturno collegiate church.
In Rome there are several family towers from the Romanesque style epoch . Most of the brick used is likely to be of ancient origin. At least one of these towers was built or rebuilt in the Gothic style.
