The province of Ancona ( Italian Provincia di Ancona ) is an Italian province of the Marche region . It has about 469,750 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in 47 municipalities on an area of 1940 km². The capital is Ancona .
The province is bordered to the northeast and east by the Adriatic Sea , to the south by the province of Macerata , in the west of Umbria ( Perugia Province ) and in the north by the province of Pesaro and Urbino .
