San Paolo di Jesi is an Italian municipality with 923 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ancona in the Marche region . It is located in the center of the Castelli di Jesi , the growing area of Verdicchio wine.
geography
San Paolo di Jesi is about 12 kilometers southwest of Jesi , and 40 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Ancona . The place is located on a hill above the Esino River , at an altitude of 224 m. Neighboring communities are Cupramontana , Jesi, Monte Roberto and Staffolo .

The municipality is connected to Ancona by the SS 76 state road . A bus line connects San Paolo di Jesi with Staffolo and Jesi.
history
San Paolo was first mentioned in a document in 1275 as a castle in the Jesi area. With Jesi, under whose administration it was, it came in the 15th century to the Papal States . In the Napoleonic period from 1806 to 1812 it was amalgamated with the neighboring municipality of Monte Roberto, and from 1928 with that of Staffolo during fascism. Since 1946 San Paolo has been an independent municipality again.
Attractions
In the historical center is the parish church of San Paolo from the end of the 18th century and the Palazzo Comunale with its tower, the Torre Civico from the same time.
