Castelleone di Suasa is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1592 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ancona in Marche . The municipality is located about 43 kilometers west of Ancona on the Cesano and borders directly on the province of Pesaro and Urbino .
history
The ancient Roman city of Suasa was in the municipality . Located on a small hill area, the area covered about 0.1 square kilometers and became part of the Roman sphere of influence in the third century BC with the Battle of Sentinum . This Roman settlement on the Ager Gallicus enjoyed influence and power from the 1st century BC. With the invasion of the Goths in 409 AD, the city lost itself in history. Only the castle complex from the High Middle Ages suggests a new settlement.
