Toirano is known for the Grotte di Toirano . This cave system is located in a barren region at the end of the Vallone del Vero , about 7 km from the coast. There are around 70 stalactite caves in the massif .

The cave has been explored since 1890, opened as a show cave in 1953, one of the main tourist attractions in the hinterland of the Riviera di Ponente . Well over 100,000 visitors come every year. The connected Grotta della Bàsura and Grotta di San Lucia Inferiore are accessible . Allegedly 12,000 year old traces of "prehistoric men" and cave bears are attractions of the cave in addition to huge stalactites .

Behind the exit there is an old chapel in the rock wall on the way back, called santuario rupestre , which can also be visited. In it there is an access to another cave - the Grotta di San Lucia Superiore . The Grotta del Colombo , in which bone fragments of Homo heidelbergensis were found, is only accessible for scientific purposes. In the village there is the Museum Museo Etnografico della Val Varatella , in which finds from the caves are shown.
