Sassello (in Ligurian : Sascê , in Piedmontese: Sassèl ) is an Italian commune with 1767 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Liguria region . Politically it belongs to the province of Savona .

geography

Sassello is located on the regional border between Liguria and Piedmont , in the northern section of the Ligurian Apennines . The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana del Giovo as well as to the Beigua Natural Park and is about 27 kilometers from Savona and about 63 kilometers from Genoa .

Sassello has a small, noteworthy, historic town center, which was awarded the Bandiera Arancione in 2007 . It is a popular destination in the Genoese and Savonian hinterland .
