Bergeggi (in Ligurian : Bergéggi ) is an Italian commune with 1,073 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Liguria region . Politically it belongs to the province of Savona .

geography

The village is located on the Riviera di Ponente , on the slopes of Monte Sant'Elena . Bergeggi is 347 meters away from the Ligurian Sea . It belongs to the Comunità Montana del Giovo and is located about ten kilometers south-west of the provincial capital Savona .

In 1985 the Bergeggi nature reserve was set up, which includes the Isola di Bergeggi and the opposite coastline of the Riviera di Ponente.

In 2007 and 2008 the municipality was awarded the Blue Flag , which recognizes the high quality of the beaches and the sea.

According to the Italian classification for seismic activity , Bergeggi was assigned to zone 4. This means that the community is in a seismically inert zone.
