The Isola di Bergeggi is a small Italian island 260 meters off the Ligurian coast near the headland Punta Predani .

environment

The island, which belongs to the Riserva naturale regional di Bergeggi (German: Regionales Naturreservat Bergeggi ), has a medium-high rocky coast, the rocks of which rise up to 53 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea .

The nature is characterized by the formation of bushes of the Mediterranean maquis . Sea fennel and the sea lavender Limonium cordatum grow on the seawater-wetted rocks , along with tree spurge ( Euphorbia dendroides ) and the bellflower species Campanula sabatia .

According to a decree of May 7, 2007, the sea section in the vicinity of the island is planned to be included as a marine reserve. The seabed is of particular interest from a biological point of view.
