Albissola Marina (in Ligurian : A Moenn-a d'Arbisseua ) is an Italian municipality with 5339 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Liguria region . Politically it belongs to the province of Savona .

The difference between the name and the neighboring Albisola Superiore - which is written with an "s" - goes back to a typographical error by the Consulta Araldica del Regno d'Italia (Heraldry of the Kingdom of Italy) for the granting of the new coat of arms for Albissola in 1915.

geography

Albissola Marina is located on the Riviera di Ponente and borders the provincial capital Savona and the municipality of Albisola Superiore . It is separated from the latter by the mouth of the Sansobbia stream .

In 2007 the municipality was awarded the Blue Flag for the excellent quality of its beaches , as well as the Bandiera Verde . Albissola Marina also received the Una Citta per il Verde award . This distinguishes cities that have made special efforts to expand the green spaces within the city limits.

The municipality belongs to the Comunità Montana del Giovo and is a member of the AICC (Italian Association of Ceramic Cities). In addition, Albissola Marina is part of the Riviera del Beigua .
