Testico (Ligurian: Testego ) is an Italian municipality in the hinterland of Andora near the Ligurian coast in the province of Savona with 172 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) on 19.7 km².

The municipality is part of the Comunità Montana Ingauna . Testico is 68 km from the provincial capital Savona and lies above the Val Merula , at an altitude of 470 m at the seat of the Comune. The height difference within the municipality is between a minimum of 180 m and a maximum of 953 m, depending on the district.

The districts (districts) Ginestro and Poggio Bottaro belong to the municipality. The neighboring municipalities are Stellanello ( SV ), Casanova Lerrone (SV), Cesio ( IM ), Chiusanico ( IM ).

According to current research results, the hamlet of Testico was already mentioned under the term Castrum in the Roman Empire . In the 13th century, the place fell under the ancient term Texticum in 1398 , in the possession of the Genoese family of Doria .

Attractions

  • The Castell of Testico. Dell'antico maniero difensivo, was built by the Genoese Doria family in the 13th century. Only a few remains of the ruins of the building can be found on Mount Arosio.
  • Pietro and Paolo Church. Built in the 17th century in the baroque style
  • Assunzione Chapel . The chapel is on the Vellego road that leads to the Ginestro Pass.
  • Cappella della Presentazione di Maria al tempio. The chapel is located in the Ginestro (Poggio) district and was restored in 1998.

The economy is mainly characterized by agriculture and here mainly by the cultivation of olives.

traffic

Testico is located on Strada Provinciale 13 (SP13), which leads on the one hand to Andora, on the other hand to Passo del Ginestro and on the SP 18 to Alassio . The place cannot be reached directly via a motorway. The next motorway exit is Andora A10 .

The nearest train station is in Andora or Alassio on the main Ventimiglia - Genoa line . There are also regional trains from Ventimiglia and Savona . Testico can be reached from both train stations by bus.
