Adam Blythe (born October 1, 1989 in Sheffield ) is a former British cyclist .
Athletic career
As a young rider, Blythe initially devoted himself primarily to track cycling . In 2006 he was European Junior Track Cycling Champion in team pursuit and British Junior Champion in points racing . In 2007 he was again European champion in the team pursuit, he won the UIV Cup in Gent with Peter Kennaugh and was British champion in two-man team driving with Luke Rowe .
In 2008 Blythe received his first contract with a UCI team with the Konica Minolta-Bizhub team and from then on mainly competed in races on the road . In 2009 he won a stage of the Thuringia Tour . In the following year he won the overall ranking of the Circuit Franco-Belge and the National Sluitingsprijs . In 2012 he won a stage from Paris – Corrèze and Binche – Tournai – Binche . In 2014 Adam Blythe won the RideLondon Classic and was British road racing champion in 2016 .
In the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Blythe drove for the Aqua Blue Sport team , which was disbanded in late 2018. In his sophomore year there, he won the Elfstedenronde and the silver medal of the British Road Racing Championships. After initially not receiving a new offer, he wanted to end his cycling career. On the recommendation of his longtime friend Ben Swift , who had received an offer from Lotto Soudal but had switched to Team Sky , Blythe received a contract with Lotto Soudal, where he ended his career as an active after the end of the 2019 season.
Trivia
Adam Blythe is known for his many different racing shoes in crazy designs that are provided to him by his outfitter. By his own admission, he has three closets just for his shoes.
