Einar Arnold Hansen (born December 20, 1898 in Nykøbing Falster , † March 26, 1947 in Copenhagen ) was a Danish wrestler . He was a bronze medalist at the 1930 European Championships in the Greco-Roman style light heavyweight division.

Career

Einar Hansen was active in the AK Dan Copenhagen sports club . He wrestled only in the Greco-Roman style and was first Danish middleweight champion in 1925. By 1933 he won this title a total of five times, the last in heavyweight.

He first took part in an international championship in 1927. He started at the European Championships in Budapest and came there in the light heavyweight division after defeats against Adolf Rieger from Germany and Thure Sjöstedt from Sweden on the 7th place. A year later he finished 5th at the Olympic Games in Amsterdam in the light heavyweight division after victories against Robert Gaupseth from Norway and Jan Galuszka from Poland and defeats against the later silver medalist Adolf Rieger and the later Olympic champion Ibrahim Mustafa from Egypt .

At the European Championships in Dortmund in 1929 , Einar Hansen failed to win in the light heavyweight division. He suffered defeats from Otto Szelky from Hungary and Hjalmar Nyström from Finland and therefore only ended up in 8th place.

Einar Hansen achieved the best result of his career at the 1930 European Championships in Stockholm . There he defeated the German champions Willi Müller and Alfred Teearu from Estonia and only lost to Carl Westergren from Sweden. These results brought him 3rd place and the bronze medal in the light heavyweight division.
