Luke Rowe (born March 10, 1990 in Cardiff ) is a Welsh track and road cyclist.
Athletic career
In 2007 Luke Rowe became European track cycling champion in the junior team pursuit together with Adam Blythe , Peter Kennaugh and Mark McNally in Cottbus . The following year he won the silver medal in the individual and team pursuit at the Junior Track Cycling European Championships in Pruszków , and in the Madison he won the gold medal together with Mark Christian . On the road, he won silver in the road race of the European Junior Championships in Verbania .
In 2012 Rowe got a contract with Team Sky and from then on started mainly in road races. In 2012 he won a stage of the Tour of Britain and in 2015 the team time trial of the Tour de Romandie with his team . In 2017 he won a stage of the Herald Sun Tour .
Rowe contested the Tour de France in 2015 , 2016 , 2017 and 2018 as part of the Sky team, which with Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas each provided the winner.
At the Tour de France 2019 , however, Rowe was disqualified after the 17th stage for unsportsmanlike conduct, as he returned the favor with a punch after he had been pushed off by Tony Martin, who was also disqualified . His older brother Matthew Rowe was also active as a cyclist.
