AGM region
The AGM region is a region in the developing vertebrate - embryo . AGM stands for aorta , gonads and mesonephros . The region includes the dorsal aorta, the surrounding mesenchyme, and the urogenital ridge . It arises from a structure called the splanchnopleura , which is part of the mesoderm (lateral plate mesoderm). In this region there are specialized endothelial cells , from which hematopoietic stem cells arise, which play an important role in the formation of blood cells ( hematopoiesis ).
