Tour de Romandie
The Tour de Romandie is a tour in road cycling , which by the Romandie , leads the French-speaking western Switzerland. The competition, which was first held in 1947, takes place annually at the end of April / beginning of May and is an important preparatory race for the Giro d'Italia . The Tour de Romandie was part of the UCI ProTour launched in 2005 , a series of the most important cycling races of the year. Since 2011 the race has been part of the successor series UCI WorldTour .
Irishman Stephen Roche was the only one to win the race three times (1983, 1984 and 1987). The first and so far only German winner of the Tour de Romandie is Andreas Klöden , who won the event in 2008.
Because of the corona pandemic , the race for 2020 has been canceled.
