Rolf Maurer
Rolf Maurer (born April 16, 1938 in Hedingen ; † June 6, 2019 there ) was a Swiss cyclist .
Athletic career
In 1955 he began his cycling career. In 1956 he was able to qualify for the then Swiss A class of amateurs at the Courtételle street race. As early as 1957, Rolf Maurer became the Swiss amateur champion in the singles pursuit . In 1959 he won his second and third national championship title with his club, this time in the team time trial and in the team pursuit . In 1960 he began his professional career with the Swiss team Tigra , he initially had a contract as an independent. As a result, he was able to start in the amateur races and he achieved two stage wins in the Tour of Tunisia and he was able to contest the Tour de l Àvenir (in which he was second in 1962) the following year . He celebrated his greatest success in 1964 when he won the Tour de Suisse with a lead of 1:58 minutes. Maurer ended his career in 1969.
