Attilio Moresi

Attilio "Tilo" Moresi (born July 26, 1933 in Viganello , † April 25, 1995 in Valcolla ) was a Swiss cyclist .

Athletic career

Moresi began his cycling career in 1949. In May 1956 he switched from the amateur class to the professional riders. The first big success of Attilio Moresi was the victory at the Giro del Mendrisiotto in 1953 , still as an amateur. Two years later he became the Swiss amateur road champion. As a professional, he won the Grand Prix di Lugano and the overall ranking of the Tour de Suisse in 1961 . In 1963 he was again Swiss road champion, this time with the professionals.

Moresi took part in the “Tour de Suisse” ten times as well as five times each in the Tour de Romandie and the Giro d'Italia . He also started three times in the Tour de France , but never reached Paris.

Professional

Moresi had completed an apprenticeship as a plumber .
