Emil Beeler

Emil Beeler (born November 7, 1937 in Schänis ) is a former cyclist from Switzerland and Swiss champion in cycling .

Athletic career

Beeler began cycling in 1956. With the victory at the Habsburg Tour in 1957, he qualified for what was then the A-class for amateurs in Switzerland. In 1958 he was able to win the Lake Zurich Tour. A year later he became national champion among the amateurs. This earned him the nomination for the UCI Road World Championship , but he gave up the race. In autumn he won the Limmental Tour. He was able to repeat this victory in 1960 and also won the first time trial in Zurich . He took part in the Summer Olympics in Rome and finished 32nd in the road race. He then obtained a license as an independent in order to be able to take part in the professional drivers' races. In 1961 he interrupted his career for a year, drove a few more races in early 1962 and then retired from cycling.

Beeler completed an apprenticeship as a hairdresser.
