Walter Diggelmann

Walter Diggelmann (born August 11, 1915 in Zurich ; † March 5, 1999 in Guntalingen ) was a Swiss cyclist .

Walter Diggelmann was a professional racing driver from 1939 to 1953. He was a strong all-rounder, drove successfully on road races and was an excellent mountain driver, but also active in six-day races and as a stayer . He achieved his first great success as an amateur in 1938 when he won the Giro del Mendrisiotto . In 1940 he won the Bern-Geneva race , in 1941 and 1942 at the Zurich championship and in 1943 at the Tour des Trois-Lacs .

Diggelmann achieved multiple stage victories in the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie . In the Tour de France 1952 he won the 9th stage.

In 1945 and 1950 Diggelmann became the Swiss standing master. He started in six six-day races, two of which he won with Hugo Koblet , in Chicago in 1948 and in New York in 1949 .
