Robert Hintermüller

Robert Hintermüller (born February 3, 1937 in Schlatt) is a former cyclist from Switzerland and Swiss champion in cycling .

career

Robert Hintermüller is a trained butcher and began cycling in 1955. In 1958 he qualified for what was then the A-class for amateurs in Switzerland. In 1959 and 1960 he was among the ten best in a street race 28 times without winning a race. In 1961 he won the Swiss championship in the street race for amateurs and was then nominated for the UCI road world championships . A year later, he obtained an independent license in order to be able to take part in professional driver races. He won the Geneva Grand Prix and the Mendrisiotto Tour and started the Tour of Canada, the Tour de l Àvenir and the Tour of Tunisia .
He competed in the domestic Tour de Suisse three times, his best placing was 20th in 1960 . The following year he ended his career.

Trivia

Hintermüller's victory in the Swiss championship in 1963 was the reason for the foundation of the Diessenhofen cycling club , then under the name RRC Schlatt .
