Emanuel Plattner

Emanuel Plattner (born May 29, 1935 in Maur ) is a former Swiss cyclist . Emanuel Plattner was a professional cyclist from 1957 to 1970. He was an all-rounder who was successful in cyclo- cross , road and track races .

Athletic career

Plattner began cycling in 1953. Just one year later, in 1954, Plattner finished second at the Swiss Championships in cyclo-cross races, and third the following year. In 1956 he was Swiss champion in the road race of amateurs , the same year he was in Luxembourg Bambësch third in the in the cyclo-cross World Cup . In 1958 he became Swiss champion in the cyclo-cross race for the first time and was able to repeat this success five times - in 1959, 1961, 1965, 1967 and 1968. In 1959 Plattner started the Tour de France in the mixed team Germany / Switzerland, but gave up the race after the 9th stage. He was at the start of the domestic Tour de Suisse four times , with 20th place in 1959 remaining his best result.

Emanuel Plattner had his most successful year in 1968, when he became a two-time Swiss champion, in cross-country and standing races .
