Henri Rheinwald

Henri Rheinwald (born July 24, 1884 in Le Locle , † April 24, 1968 in Geneva ) was a Swiss cyclist .

Athletic career

Henri Rheinwald, known as the “Lion of Geneva”, was one of the strongest Swiss cyclists before and after the First World War . He was nine times Swiss champion on the road, in cross-country and in the sprint on the track. On October 16, 1908, Rheinwald set a Swiss hour record over 39.215 kilometers. He won the Tour du Lac Léman three times (1907, 1912 and 1920) and the Zurich championship when it was first held in 1914 .

Rheinwald was a professional until 1921; He then worked as a trainer for standing sticks .
