Steve Morabito (born January 30, 1983 in Monthey ) is a former Swiss cyclist . He was considered a mountain specialist.

Career

After winning the Swiss Mountain Championship in 2005, an eighth place in the U23 World Championships and a fifth place in the Swiss Road Championships, Steve Morabito became a professional with the Phonak Cycling Team in 2006 . His first significant success as a professional was winning the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse in 2006 .

From this year Morabito did one of the Grand Tours every year . His best placements in the overall rankings were 25th at the Giro d'Italia in 2014 and 2015 . In 2016, Steve Morabito started the road race at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but could not finish it. In 2018 he became Swiss road racing champion . In the 2018 season he was Swiss road champion.

In 2019, Morabito contested his last race with the Tour of Lombardy and ended his cycling career.
